We have a transparent up-to-date policy regarding the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals, EC1907/2006 legislation and its subsequent amendments (Regulation (EU) No 895/2014) and the process that the company undertakes to ensure the fulfilment of our obligations.
Thomas Storey Fabrications Group Ltd is a Designer, Manufacturer and Distributor of steel fabrication for a number of industry sectors including Construction, Agriculture, Haulage and Municipal Buses and Utility Vehciles. We do not manufacture or import any given substance. Any chemicals or substances that we do use are only used in the way intended or expected, and therefore we regard ourselves as a downstream user only. As such we have no requirement to register chemicals with the ECHA. However, we do keep an up-to-date log of the chemicals used on site and where on site they are used.
The TSF Group ensures that its operations take into account the possible impacts on the environment and is environmentally conscious when making all its business decisions.
Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation and other environmental requirements as a minimum level of performance.
Where possible preventing pollution and minimising emissions and waste.
Reducing the use of all raw materials, energy and supplies through the use of waste minimisation and recycling activities.
Raising awareness and encouraging participation by training employees in environmental matters.
Using minimum packaging of its products – a high proportion being sold without packaging. Where used, packaging is recyclable, for preservation of product during transportation.
Our target is to reduce our relative carbon footprint by 5% year on year and we will do this by maximising efficiency through continual monitoring, maximising the efficiency of our equipment and putting actions into place to help achieve our goals.
With R.E.A.CH we aim to reduce the use of and risk from hazardous chemicals, where safer alternatives are available we aim to include these within our working procedures. With all substances we use we will carry out regular COSHH risk assessments and obtain Supplier data sheets. Any new chemicals we will consider prior to purchase to see if any safer alternatives are available.

At present, our business objectives include:
TSF Group is proud to be working in partnership with Mecalac to produce their 6-tonne dumper truck chassis. This is a complex fabrication project requiring tight control over close-tolerance dimensions and welding specifications allowing “right-first time” to assemble within Mecalac’s production line. We have the capability to finish this product to customers’ exact specification, be that simply oiled and shipped, or painted to high-grade paint specification. There is a rolling, scheduled requirement for this product and as such we deliver set volumes on the days/dates necessary using our fleet of HGVs.
Our production line is set up in accordance with Lean principles to allow for smooth product flow and a reduction in all types of waste including time and movement, resulting in an efficient and cost-effective solution for our customers. Our patented leak detection and cleanliness testing

systems mean that tanks can be guaranteed leak-free and clean upon delivery. Our state of the art in-house facilities allow us to wash, pre-treat, powder coat and fit-out tanks, enabling us to deliver to customers line-side on a just-in-time basis.

At Thomas Storey Fabrications (TSF), we are proud to be working alongside Weaving, a leading family-run farm equipment manufacturer known for its innovation in the agricultural sector. Recently, we have collaborated on the design and development of a ground-breaking animal and bedding feed concept. Additionally, TSF has been supporting Weaving in enhancing the growth and production of their durable, high-quality farm machinery and attachments, including seed drills and the Sabre Drill.
This partnership involves complex fabrication processes, requiring precision engineering and close-tolerance specifications to ensure that each piece of equipment meets Weaving’s high standards. We take pride in delivering reliable solutions that contribute to the success of Weaving’s machinery, which farmers trust year after year.

Jo Atkinson
commercial Director
Jo graduated from Hull University with a Law degree. Following a career in banking she joined Thomas Storey in 2000 as Health & Safety Officer progressing to HR & Safety Manager in 2002 after gaining a postgraduate diploma in HR Management from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Following further qualifications and wider company experience, Jo became a Director in 2015.
In 2016 she, along with fellow Director Tony Ramsdale and non-executive Chairman David Houghton, bought the business. She is a gym enthusiast and loves a friendly in-house comp to keep her on her toes. When not sweating over a barbell, she enjoys walking, bird watching and generally being outdoors.
Tony Ramsdale
OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
Tony joined Thomas Storey in 1980 as a mechanical engineering apprentice. As Quality Manager 1992 – 1999 he was responsible for achieving the BS EN ISO 9001 (bridging and container divisions) and BS EN ISO 9002 (fabrications division) accreditations.
He was appointed General Manager of Lloyds UK in Rugby (another company within the Thomas Storey Group at the time) and in October 2011, he returned to the Thomas Storey site in Manchester to take over as General Manager.
In 2016, Tony was part of a team of three directors who bought Thomas Storey and started to evolve the business into the dynamic group it is today. He is an avid Manchester City supporter and loves the fact that the factory is less than a mile from their ground.
Phil Ramsdale
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Phil joined Thomas Storey as an Engineer in 2006 after completing a modern apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering. Accredited in 6 Sigma, he led key projects, including designing an armour-plated vehicle for the defence industry, and patented hydraulic cleanliness technology. In 2016, he became Quality Manager, developing a quality-focused culture and successful transition to ISO9001:2015.
Phil was the technical Director at Thomas Storey since 2018, and has now been appointed managing director, Phil seizes any opportunity to improve operations, drawing heavily on Toyota lean methodologies. Phil is part of a cohort of manufacturing N.West leaders at the Business Growth Hub and Made Smarter alongside executives from companies like Amazon and Siemens exchanging ideas on continuous improvement, increased productivity and lowering environmental impact.
Phil achieved a 1st Class BEng (Hons) from the Open University in 2019 and is currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Manchester, further enhancing his strategic leadership skills. Outside work, Phil enjoys cycling, manages a youth football team and has been a Manchester City season ticket holder for over 30 years.
